<60 MINUTES – VILLACH LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR THE KORALM RAILWAY

The Koralmbahn represents a historic opportunity for Villach. From its official opening on December 14th, travel time between Graz and Villach will be reduced to under 66 minutes. This makes the Alpe-Adria city an even more attractive destination for tourists, commuters, and potential new residents alike.
To firmly anchor this potential in the minds of the Styrian public, the City of Villach and the Villach Tourism Region are launching a multi-week countdown campaign. “So far, ÖBB’s communication about the Koralmbahn has focused mainly on the Graz–Klagenfurt route. We now see it as our mission to put Villach – the attractive final destination of this new connection – in the spotlight,” says Mayor Günther Albel.
“With this campaign, we want to make the anticipation of the opening truly tangible while at the same time showcasing Villach’s incredible diversity and appeal. The number 66 serves as our memorable anchor for the surprisingly short travel time."

The campaign builds on the welcome2villach initiative for business and tourism, which promotes Villach internationally as an attractive place to live and work thanks to its excellent geographic location and numerous advantages.
LARGE-SCALE STAGING IN GRAZ
The countdown will be showcased prominently: a large video wall at the Bahnhofsgürtel in Graz and digital display boards in Villach will track the approaching start of the Koralmbahn. A complementary social media campaign in the greater Graz area will provide daily new highlights.

At the same time, October 10th marks exactly 66 days until the official start of the Koralmbahn, perfectly matching the campaign slogan.
66 THEMES FOR VILLACH
At the heart of the campaign are 66 daily themes showcasing the full range of what Villach has to offer – from the diverse leisure opportunities in the tourism region, to cultural and event highlights (such as the Bauernadvent or the Villach Kirchtag), to Villach’s innovative business landscape and exceptional quality of life. The countdown runs under the motto “Villach is waiting for you.”
This is also reflected in the visuals: each theme features a person in a topic-related outfit, staged at Villach’s train station, symbolically welcoming Koralmbahn passengers to the city on the Drau River. The highlight – and conclusion – of the campaign will be December 14th, the official launch day of the Koralmbahn.
