NEW BEGINNING WITH AN AWARD – MARCHER OPENS NEW COMPANY HEADQUARTERS IN VILLACH
After around two and a half years of construction, Marcher Fleischwerke GmbH celebrated the opening of its new company headquarters in Villach. As part of the festivities, company owner Norbert Marcher received the Badge of Honour of the City of Villach – in recognition of his long-standing commitment and significant investments in the location.
AN INVESTMENT IN THE REGION
With a double-digit million-euro investment, the headquarters has been comprehensively modernized over the past few years. Covering around 10,000 square meters, it now offers state-of-the-art production and workspace areas, an innovative cutting center, training and social facilities, the new “Fleischwerkstatt” pick-up market, and a striking office tower serving as the new administrative headquarters. The architecture of the office building is impressive with its distinctive window design, reminiscent of the marbling of a fine steak – a creative reference to the company’s identity. With these investments, Marcher has created a forward-looking center for food production and sent a strong signal for Villach as a business location.
A STRONG EMPLOYER WITH TRADITION
Marcher Fleischwerke is a family-owned company with more than 90 years of history. Founded in 1929 and now managed by the third generation, Norbert, Gernot, and Herfried Marcher, the company has developed into Austria’s largest and most modern meat processing enterprise.
In Villach, Marcher employs around 650 people; across Austria, the company has 1,800 employees at eleven locations. With annual sales of approximately 650 million euros (2024), Marcher is among Austria’s leading food manufacturers and exports its products to more than 40 countries worldwide.
NEW PICK-UP MARKET AND ONLINE OFFERING
At the same time as the modernization of the headquarters, the new “Fleischwerkstatt” pick-up market was also opened. On a retail space of 250 m², customers can purchase high-quality meat and sausage products directly on site. The range is complemented by an online shop, which also allows private customers to order conveniently from home.

With the award presented to Norbert Marcher, the City of Villach honors not only entrepreneurial success but also regional responsibility and long-term thinking. The construction project impressively demonstrates the importance of a close connection between economic progress and local roots – a relationship with the potential to sustainably strengthen Villach and the entire region.
