INFINEON REACHES MILESTONE: FIRST 200-MM SILICON CARBIDE PRODUCTS DELIVERED

Infineon Technologies has achieved a significant advancement in semiconductor technology: the company is launching the delivery of its first products based on advanced 200-mm silicon carbide (SiC) technology. Manufacturing takes place at the Villach site, where the new components set benchmarks for high-voltage applications – ranging from electric vehicles and renewable energy to fast-charging stations and AI data centers. At the same time, production at the Kulim site in Malaysia is on track to transition from 150-mm to 200-mm wafers as planned. This enables a significant improvement in cost efficiency, product quality, and production capacity.
SILICON CARBIDE – A KEY TECHNOLOGY “MADE IN VILLACH” FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION
SiC-based power semiconductors offer crucial advantages: higher energy efficiency, more compact designs, and enhanced performance under extreme conditions. This technology plays a key role in advancing energy-efficient applications in areas such as electromobility, renewable energy, and high-performance data centers.
The current market launch of 200-mm SiC products is an important step for Infineon to meet the growing demand for high-performance, sustainable semiconductor solutions.

FUTURE-ORIENTED MANUFACTURING WITH “INFINEON ONE VIRTUAL FAB”
The Villach and Kulim sites collaborate as the “Infineon One Virtual Fab” to manufacture wide-bandgap technologies such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride (GaN) more efficiently. By closely integrating technologies and processes, Infineon enables a rapid production ramp-up and ensures the highest quality. This strengthens Infineon’s position as a leading provider of high-power semiconductors and underscores the company’s commitment to technological excellence and sustainability.
With the successful introduction of 200-mm SiC technology, Infineon is setting new standards in the semiconductor industry and driving the development of efficient, sustainable energy solutions forward.
