It’s raining, it’s pouring, but that doesn’t mean your day has to be boring! Rainy weather can be the perfect opportunity to cozy up with a good book or binge-watch a new series. However, if the idea of staying at home all day gives you cabin fever, you are in luck. Rainy weather doesn't mean you have to stay indoors, there are plenty of activities in Villach that are great for rainy days.

VISIT THE KÄRNTENTHERME IN WARMBAD

Let the warm thermal waters at the KärntenTherme wash your rainy day blues away. Whether you are looking for fun, sport, or relaxation, this modern and beautiful bathing facility has it all. Indoor water slides for the kids and young at heart? Yup! Heated lap pools? You bet! Sauna and spa area for ultimate relaxation? Of course! The KärntenTherme can be conveniently accessed by public transportation and has plenty of parking. Prices and opening hours can be found on the KärntenTherme website.

CATCH A FILM AT THE STADTKINO OR CINEPLEXX

Going to the cinema is a classic rainy day activity. Luckily, the city of Villach has two theaters - Villach Stadtkino Center and Cineplexx Villach. The Stadtkino is located right in the Villach city center and is a hub for independent films. Looking for the latest blockbuster? The newly renovated Cineplexx Villach has you covered. Both theaters occasionally show films in their original language, perfect for the growing international community in Villach. For current showings in English or another foreign language, search the cinema’s website for OV (Original Version) films.

VISIT THE CITRUS GARDEN

The sun is always shining at the Citrus Garden in Faak. With more than 240 varieties of citrus, this garden is the largest of its kind in Austria. The 5,000 m2 Mediterranean garden is partially covered so you can enjoy the sweet smells of citrus no matter the weather. The Citrus Garden is open all year long, Monday to Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm with extended hours during the summer. Check the Citrus Garden website for up to date information, including upcoming events at this beautiful venue.

GO BOWLING

Ready, set, bowl! Whether you are a professional bowler or looking for a rainy day activity with the kids, V-Bowl Villach is a fun place to spend the afternoon. V-Bowl has 8 bowling lanes and special rates for seniors and families. Every Friday and Saturday evening starting at 8 pm, the bowling alley lights up for “Disco Bowling” with top music hits and disco lighting effects. Prices are per game per person with shoe rental available. More information can be found at the V-Bowl website.

Don’t let a bit of rain ruin your day, go out and enjoy the “weatherproof” side of Villach. Anyways, in sunny Carinthia, you know that the sun will (probably) come out tomorrow.
